Headlines
bs”d
Headlines (and photos, cartoons and art) are all designed to grab our attention and engage us emotionally, but do we allow them engage our intellect? In order for that to happen, we must:
- Know objective history
- Read the article or post
- If possible, know the worldview of the author
- Possess a moral compass in good operating order
Examples:
March 2008 Headlines on just two sites –
Rabbi Lior speaks out against hiring of arabs by Efrat Weiss
Jews should refrain from employing any non-jews by Desert Peace aka Steve Amsel aka Israel Meyer
Then, in April 2008 –
Israeli Intelligence Foils Terrorist Poison Plot in Ramat Gan by Hana Levi Julian
What Israel Faces –
Poll on Attitudes of Arab Israelis Towards Israel
Some people create their own “reality”, their own world, and thus their own prison
Have I made my point?
Yes, you have made your point. ^^
It’s great that you gave examples so that people can see, not only read about it.
Yet I am sure that there is more then one *truth* and that none owns the real, one *truth*. It’s not necessarily that people *invented* their articles and the facts given there for the reason of hurting other people but they do really believe what they wrote because from their *point of view* and judging by that information they’ve got it is true. There was a time when I *knew* that the second Lebanon war was triggered by nothing but two hijacked Israelis. I just didn’t know that there were Katjushas flying onto Northern Israel. So from my point of view, back then, this was my *truth* without having it “constructed” and without any intention to harm anybody.

Migdalit,
You’re more generous than I meant to be in this post. I think many like to appear to only be reporting from their limited perspective, their truth — yes. But it is my opinion that many sites hide behind this when in fact, they have a very sadistic, antisemitic agenda. When researching the writers on these types of blogs/sites, I often find that their problem is, in fact — the morality of Torah Judaism. These are often very left-winged, even communist oriented people, and more often than not, they live lives that wouldn’t even come close to the Judeo-Christian or Torah based value system I, and I’m assuming you, espouse.
Their knee-jerk reaction is against HKB”H, even if they’re not conscious of that fact. Since we are called to represent HKB”H and the Torah worldview, naturally, the Jewish people, and Israel become the targets. Of course, the attacks against the Jewish people and against Israel hide under the guise of “human rights”. Human rights have nothing to do with this argument over who has the right to possess Eretz Israel. Look at that map again, and it becomes obvious.
Their argument is really with HKB”H.
EK
hello Elyakatz,
may I ask you what HKB”H means?

Migdalit,
It is one of many respectful circumlocutions referring to the Creator of the Universe. HaKodesh Baruch Hu, in Hebrew, means The Holy One Blessed Be He.
